Move In Week - an Update

Work continues at the Bungalow, so we're not quite ready for Before and After's - but an update from the last week:

On the "construction" front - we are at about 93% finished.  All will be complete by next Wed., excepting the laundry room, where a cabinet is taking an inordinate amount of time.  In the last week:
  • All lighting hung (spectacular, team Lightology)
  • Kitchen backsplash hung
  • Wallpaper up, hung by a fellow perfectionist, Nacho
  • All bathroom fixtures and fittings in, including shower glass, counters and backsplash
  • Living room ceiling repainted, after a little patch paint snafu
  • Staircase built and painted
  • Some of the door hardware placed
  • Molding started around the kitchen
  • Basement shelves underway
  • Cable, wifi and phone service installed
  • Alarm is activated
Still to do:
  • Masonry/garage step repairs
  • Hang and paint a few doors, finish baseboards around the doors.
  • Moldings in the kitchen
  • Shelves in the basement
  • Laundry room cabinet, counter, and shelves
  • Finish the stairwell painting/staining
  • Adjust cabinets and install pulls
  • Install towel bars, hooks, etc.
  • Deep clean interior/exterior/windows
  • The minor touch ups - floors, paint, etc.
The "A" team this week has been Nacho (carpentry and wallpaper) and Julio (paint).   Nacho has done a remarkable job on the wallpaper.  Looks perfect.

I have a new appreciation for all of the details being managed by MK, the GC.

Sorting Hardware

Just missing the mirror.  The terrific sink went in today.

On the "move" front - about 90% finished. I've been living here a week now.  The first few days were long and tiring, but it does now resemble a "home" - beds made, lamps placed, and everything unpacked and put away (with the exception of the basement family room, where shelving and a finished laundry room will be the ticket).  It wasn't a joy staying here the first week (toilet on the 2nd floor, shower in the basement, guys here early AM), but so it goes.  The delivery of some white upholstered pieces and the artwork was postponed until Tuesday so to let the dust settle a bit more.

My ability to live here the last week has been greatly aided by the provision of Magda's cleaning (thank you MK).  I made about 200 trips to and from the garage over the weekend, before the "big move" Monday (thanks, team Glen Ellen); most things were put away by mid-day Tuesday so not to hinder access for the guys.  By Wed, the window treatments will be hung, art work will be up, and the doorbell probably won't be ringing at 7am.

"Before":  my garage on Friday

"During" :The Great Garage Migration

Wrapping up Phase 1:  the stuff I moved from garage in place

And Here it All Comes

Monday Night - OMG

Tuesday - Making Progress
Tuesday:  Starting to Look Like A Home
The team here has been very complementary on the "almost finished" product - my favorite complement (ego boost) was "I can't believe you didn't use a decorator".
